One thing that a lot of people enjoy doing for pleasure is writing, and for many people – after they have gotten enough pleasure out of it just for the fun of it – the next logical step is to try to do writing for more than just the pleasure of it; if you have been thinking of maybe taking writing a bit more seriously, and have been wondering what you should do in order to learn more about writing, here are three tips to keep in mind. p /When most people think of learning about writing, they immediately think of writing classes – either at a university, or within the confines of a writing group – but long before you decide to participate in a writing group, you should first make an effort to learn about writing by simply reading; most authors will tell you that reading is the most important thing a writer can do, so make sure you are reading as often as you can in order to be able to write as well as you can! p /Another thing you should make the effort to do before going to a writing class is to start writing; when you do some writing on your own, you will be able to get a good understanding of exactly what it is that you feel you do well, and exactly what it is that you can improve on – all while cultivating your personal attention to these things (which will be a big part of eventually becoming the best writer you can be). p /@@ADSENSE@@. p /And once these first two steps have been taken (and only once these first two steps have been taken!), you will be at a place where you can start learning about writing from others as well – attending writing classes if you would like, and talking to different writers, both successful and as-of-yet unsuccessful, to see what they say and what they advise. p /As is the case with every artistic or creative craft, you will become better and better at writing the longer you stick with it – but when you get started with writing in this proper manner, you will be well on your way to becoming the best writer you can possibly be. p /@@ADSENSE@@.

When you find something that you especially enjoy doing ndash; either for a living or even just for fun ndash; one thing you might also think would be fun is finding a way to make a living teaching in this area. While most people think of standard subjects in high schools or colleges when they think of making a living teaching something they love ndash; and while this is certainly one route to go when you are wanting to make a living teaching something you love ndash; there are also other ways to make money teaching, and once you start getting creative and looking for opportunities, you can actually find that you can make a living teaching just about anything at all! p /The easiest way to make a living teaching something you enjoy is to hook up with a school or organization through which you can teach; when you are attached to a particular school or organization, you will be able to use their resources and will not have to go searching for students to teach! p /@@ADSENSE@@. p /Of course, if the topic in which you are interested in making a living teaching is a bit more obscure, or if you simply prefer the flexibility that comes with running things on your own, you can also look for ways to set up informal classes on your own; in fact, you can even advertise through the schools around you if what you are teaching is not something they offer formally! p /And even though immediately making a living teaching something you enjoy would be nice, you may find that it is necessary to gain some ldquo;experiencerdquo; before you can start getting paid to teach something. But if the area in which your teaching is focused truly is something you enjoy, you will get plenty of pleasure out of teaching this topic regardless of whether you are getting paid or not ndash; and once you have gained enough experience that you can begin getting paid, it will be like icing on the cake! p /@@ADSENSE@@.

The idea of being a writer holds great appeal for a lot of people – either because they have been strongly influenced by literature in their own life, or even simply because they think it would be fun to sit at home all day and write – but one thing that many people find once they begin writing is that it is not quite as easy as they thought it would be to come up with story ideas on a consistent basis; there is, of course, no magic key that will help you come up with great story ideas (if there were, we would have a lot more successful writers than we have!), but there are a few things you can keep in mind to help yourself come up with great story ideas. p /If you closely examine most of the good books you have had the pleasure of reading (or even at most of the good short stories that have thrilled you), you will probably realize that most of these stories have good characters in them; because of this, you should make sure you are spending enough time around people that you get to know and understand them – and, you should start figuring out what helps you to develop good, believable characters! p /@@ADSENSE@@. p /As you learn to come up with good characters, and to build your stories around these good characters, another thing you should start looking for is story ideas that are unique and original; when you look at books in the bookstore, you will find that there are a lot of books that have the same general concepts, but what you do not see is that for every one of these books on the shelf, there are thousands of similar books that did not get published.nbsp; Instead of writing the same things that everyone else is writing – trying to get your work noticed amidst the noise of all the others – you will be able to increase your chances of success (both as far as publication goes, and as far as readership goes) by coming up with ideas that are unique and original. p /And along the same lines as trying to develop unique and original story ideas (and even more important!) is that you need to be fearless; do not worry about failure, but rather, be willing to try new things, and to keep chasing success until you finally succeed! p /@@ADSENSE@@.

If reading is something you enjoy, one thing that will probably be important to you will be that your children enjoy reading as well, but even beyond the simple desire for your children to enjoy reading, you should realize that reading is extremely important, and you will do your child a big favor if you help them learn how to read before it is absolutely necessary for them to be able to do so; if you are trying to help your children learn how to read, here are a few things you can keep in mind that will help you. p /When you first begin to help your children learn how to read, it will be important that you begin with the fundamentals, remembering that your children do not yet have the building blocks necessary to be accomplished readers; help them understand the functions of the different letters in the alphabet, beginning with the words that they can sound out, and moving on to the ldquo;sight words,rdquo; that they will have to simply know instead of being able to sound out. p /As your child starts to become more comfortable with reading, it will be good for you to offer them plenty of help, but you should also realize that it will be important for them to start figuring things out on their own; the best way to do this is to sit with them while they read, but to allow them to work through all the little problem areas on their own. p /@@ADSENSE@@. p /And finally, when it comes to getting your children to learn how to read, the most important thing of all will be making reading seem fun, as your children are much more likely to want to pick up their books and practice reading if it seems like fun instead of seeming like a task; make sure your children see you reading, and make sure you convey to them how wonderful reading can be ndash; and then, make reading a reward for them, instead of making it something they ldquo;have to dordquo; each day. p /When you take this approach to teaching your children how to read, you will soon find that they are picking it up more and more, and you will find that they are wanting to read instead of viewing it as a task or a chore! p /@@ADSENSE@@.

Birding (or, as some would call it, bird watching) is something that a lot of people get enjoyment out of, but if you are thinking about taking up birding as a hobby of your own, you should realize that it is not nearly as much fun as it could be if you do not know what you are doing; if you are hoping to take up a bit of birding (or if you already do some birding and are looking to become better at birding), here are a few tips that you should keep in mind. p /In most cities, there are parks associations that offer free, guided bird walks, and this is a wonderful way to start learning some of the techniques for birding, and to learn the names of some of the birds that you are seeing on your walks. p /You will see some people with birding scopes as you take these bird walks; there will probably not be any reason for you to invest in a birding scope until you are certain that birding is the hobby for you, but until you reach that point, you should try to keep a pair of binoculars with you when you go out on the trails so you can maximize your enjoyment. p /@@ADSENSE@@. p /Having a good bird guide will also be an important part of enjoying your foray into birding, as a good bird guide will help you quite a bit in your birding activities; in addition to the big bird guides you can buy and keep at home, most bird guides also have editions that are specific to certain regions of the country. p /And of course, knowing when to go will be an important part of birding as well; you are more likely to see different birds if you go out in the spring or in the fall – during migration season – and on a day-to-day basis, your best times to go out are between six and nine in the morning and right before sunset, as these are the times of day during which birds are most active, which will help you to get the most enjoyment out of your time out on the trail. p /@@ADSENSE@@.
