Having a child that is running a fever can be very nerve racking especially if a child is young, and also if the fever is high. As a mom you can feel very helpless when your child is sick. You have some options to help lower your child’s temperature. p /Running a fever is actually good. This is how our bodies naturally fight an infection. It is best, when your child is handling the fever, to let it run it’s course. Even a fever of 102 may not be a problem as long as the child is comfortable. There are times though that you will need to address the fever to drop it to a more tolerable level. p /You should start taking action once the fever goes over 102. A good way to start reducing a fever is withnbsp;@@AMAZONTEXT;B001E96LOA;childrens Tylenol@@.p / Make sure to go off of your child’s weight and not their age, this will help the dose be more accurate. Many pediatricians recommend only using Tylenol when a child has a fever because of the risk of Reyes disease. p /Make sure your child stays hydrated. It is more important that your child get’s clear liquids or water over food when they are sick. If you can get your child to drink water you can try alternatives like pedialite or pediasure. My children used to love @@AMAZONTEXT;B0007XXP7A;pedialyte freeze pops@@. This helps to get the fluids in without the fight. p /Another way to drop their temperature is with a warm, not hot bath. Make sure not to drop the temperature too low, so you don’t chill them. Then loosely wrap them in some light clothing. Heavily bundling your child can make their temperature rise higher. p /One last tip for you to consider; when your child is sleeping, and you want to take their temperature use a temporal thermometer or a @@AMAZONTEXT;B003YUFG8Y;noncontact thermometer@@. Using either of these thermometers will minimize how much you need to disrupt the sleep your child so desperately needs to get healthy again.
